It is common for the upper eyelid to develop excess skin as we age. This causes the eyelids to become heavy and to remain partially closed, reducing the upper field of vision. The skin can also become irritated and the face looks generally tired.

Hawke’s Bay Eye offers blepharoplasty (lid lift) surgery to remove the excess skin for upper and (less often) lower eyelids. This helps you to see better and gives you a fresher, more youthful appearance. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and takes around an hour.
